reduction of gastric inflation by use of a pressure relief valve connected to an acoustic expiration control device during mouth-to-mask ventilation of a manikin model of an unprotected airway

Background gastric swelling is an important issue when unprotected airway ventilation is performed.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate a prototype pressure relief valve with an acoustic expired control mechanism connected to two different shields. Methods 12 non-
Medical and health professional physician (group 1)
10 newly registered dentists (group 2)
The device was used to perform 10 cycles of CPR on the dummy, with the mouth-to-Mouth technology.
The dentist also used a mask without a valve.
The anal pressure under the esophagus was adjusted to 1. 5u2005kPa (group 1)and 0. 3u2005kPa (group 2);
Valve Pressure Relief to 1. 5u2005kPa (group 1)and 2. 0u2005kPa (group 2).
1 set of tidal volume results obtained by valve cover technology (
Medians 350 and 400)
Very small difference from the mouthto-
Oral ventilation (
Medians 475 and 600 ml).
Stomach swelling was hardly observed.
Stomach swelling occurs using only the safety valve attached to the mask (median 122u2005ml)
Alone with the mask (median 260u2005ml)(p=0. 004).
Only in the first group does the acoustic equipment send out enough signals.
Conclusion when the valve is connected, the frequency of gastric expansion is low, the degree is low, and the trend of tidal volume is reduced.
Even if the safety valve causes a smaller tidal volume, its protective effect may be beneficial.
