how to remove driverside/passanger side temp controll actuators in 04 chevy siverado

This instruction is how to remove the driver side and the passanger side temperature control actuator in 04 Chevrolet Siverado.
If you notice that your temperature control unit is in a cold state and is blowing out hot air, there is a good chance that the actuator that controls which air (
Hot or cold, or dual climate zone units like this)are going bad.
The first easy way to solve this problem is to set both temperature control dials to cold, then disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, reconnect, do not touch the temo control button, just turn the fan on to the max and AC buttons and do not touch the temperature control button for at least 5 minutes! !
If it is blowing out cold air after that, congrats! ! ! problem solved! ! !
If you want to get hot air when it\'s cold in the sky, then read this insturactable and save some grandlands from the dealer. (

Multiple hvac actuator failures occurred in this 2004 Chevrolet Silverado.
After diagnosing the faulty passenger side hybrid damper actuator with the Tech 2 scanning tool, it is time to remove the dashboard cover.
It\'s not a big deal, but there are many steps.
Lift the lower edge of the dashboard end cap and remove the cover.
There are two cross head screws.
To do this, a short screwdriver is needed.
Remember to do this on both sides of the dashboard.
Use a small screwdriver or other similar device to gently pry the passenger side vents from the dashboard.
Beat the vent evenly.
If it is tilted to one side or the other, it tends to jamb.
You can do this faster with two or even four screwdrivers if you want.
There is a Phillips head screw under each vent on the passenger side.
Repeat the process on another vent.
Now, look up at the upper edge of the two vents.
You will see a white button.
Press the button.
Pull the passenger\'s handle from the dashboard.
You can alternate from one side to the other until it is completely removed, or you can ask someone to help you.
Grab the upper edge of the trim board and pull it out.
After releasing the upper edge, work up the panel until it is released from the dashboard.
If present, rotate the panel to expose the tweeter wiring.
Press the lock tab to pull the connector apart.
Grab the upper edge of the dashboard and release from the dashboard.
Work around the dashboard until all clips are free.
Tilt the steering wheel completely down.
Turn on the ignition switch and put down the pad handle all the way.
Scroll the upper edge of the dashboard outward.
The panel must be bent above the center of the dashboard to fully release the panel.
Release A better view of the \"A\" column trim board.
Remove the 7mm head screws around the edge of the dashboard cover panel.
After removing all the screws, the dashboard cover will be removed from the dashboard carrier.
It must be pulled away from the windshield to release the front clip.
Then lift up slightly to clear the front edge of the dashboard carrier.
Most trucks will be equipped with ambient light sensors, or sun load sensors on the lower side of the dashboard.
The ambient light sensor is distorted like a bulb.
Because this part is fragile, be gentle.
If it has a second sensor, it has to unplug it.
When you pull the dashboard from the car, support the dashboard cover evenly.
Now remove the two 7mm screws and fix the right driver side vent register in place.
Take out the ventilation register.
Remove the panel with passenger side airbag switch.
The group may be blank in some years.
It pulls out and holds it in place using a spring clip.
Now, if you look under the ventilation pipe, you will see the wiring of the hybrid damper actuator on the passenger side.
Look carefully and you should see the actuator itself.
Now that the dashboard cover is off, you can see the actuator, but you still can\'t get to it.
More things need to be separated.
As shown in the following figure, remove the wiring fixing clamp from the metal bracket.

Remove the 7mm head screw from the passenger side bracket.
Use the ratchet to remove two 10mm head screws from the front edge of the passenger side bracket.
Remove the 7mm screw from the driver side of the cross bracket.
Remove the bracket.
You can now remove the \"U\" bracket on the passenger side.
Remove 7mm screws on the driver side bracket.
I also removed the two 10mm bolts on the driver side bracket to make sure the dashboard is free to move.
Disable the airbag or SRS system according to the manufacturer\'s instructions.
Then remove two 10mm bolts from the airbag, as shown in the following figure.
Then remove the two lower airbag screws.
Please note that the airbag screws are shorter than the bracket screws.
When reassembling, do not put the long bolts back into the airbag.
Pull out the orange \"front guarantee clip\" from the yellow connector \".
Disconnect the connector and remove the airbag.
Manufacturers who use to process and store airbags are advised.
It\'s getting closer, but there\'s more to do.
The silver box shown below is the vehicle communication interface module.
It may not appear on all vehicles as it is related to the Onstar system.
There are three 10mm nuts that hold the module on the stand.
They are locking the nut so they have to be screwed all the way down.
Remove the two 10mm nuts at the passenger end of the dash bracket.
Do not mix these nuts with the ones taken out of the VCIM bracket.
Now remove the 7mm screw from the back of the passenger vent on the right side.
Remove the 7mm screw from the position shown below.
Swing the corner of the dashboard as shown.
I use a screwdriver handle to keep the pipe working on the lift.
In order to give myself more space, I also lifted the pipe work a little with a crowbar.
The crowbar is heavy enough to keep the pipe working, but you might want someone to hold it for you.
If someone is holding it for you, be sure not to use the area in the center of the opening as a fulcrum.
It will break the mounting panel, which is the nut of the Phillips head screw that was previously removed.
It is now possible to swing the VCIM and disconnect the wire.
Remove the harness fixing clip from the bracket as shown below.
Remove the harness clip from the bar, as shown in the following figure.
Lift the seat belt a little to get more work space. Use short 5.
5mm socket and ratchet, remove two mounting screws.
Disconnect the wiring to the actuator before removing the screw.
Make it a little easier.
You actually need to work through two openings and use both hands to simplify the work.
The magnet on the stick works very well in taking back the dropped screws and sockets.
You can finally remove the actuator from the dashboard. Free at last.
New and old actuators.
